The Butler is tracking for a big opening weekend, perhaps even coming in as high as $25 or $30 million. Quite an impressive haul for a low budget picture in the heat of summer movie season. Oprah’s star power seems to be powering the film forward, dominating the other 3 major releases of the weekend.

Kick Ass 2 is having a predictably decent opening, likely in second place, with with $6 million for Friday and targeting a $15 million weekend.

In sixth place for Friday is Jobs – the Apple co-founder biopic starring Ashton Kutcher – which is tracking just short of an $8 million opening weekend.

As terrible as that number is, thriller Paranoia with Liam Hemsworth and Harrison Ford would kill for an $8 million opening weekend. Distributed into about 2,500 theaters, the pic has almost no buzz and may open shy of $4 million.
